Carnival Queen & Consort
The chosen 2009 Carnival Queen is Emily Mildren from Collyweston. Her consort is Felix Clarke from Oundle. They are both in Year 13 at Prince William School and will be taking their A levels this year.
These were chosen by all the students in Year 12 and 13 at PWS (6th form in old money) which totals about 282 students. The selection process took place over a couple of weeks and the students were nominated by their peers.
Emily
Emily is an 18 year old from Collyweston and is studying A levels in, English Language & Literature, History and French. She has also studied Psychology to AS level. Emily has applied to study an International Business with Languages degree at Birmingham University which she hopes to attend from October 2009. She has a couple of part time jobs working as a sales assistant and a shoe fitter. Emily has a passion for French and wants to pursue a career within the worlds of business. She has been a mentor to Year 9 students in the school and she had the opportunity to take part in the 'Stop Bullying Now' campaign. She has visited France where she was involved in journalism activities which helped her to improve her writing, reading and listening skills. She is a keen reader (especially in French), she enjoys the cinema, is a very willing volunteer and has an enthusiasm for academic pursuits.
Felix
Felix is studying A levels in Music, English Language and Literature and History and is hoping to study American Literature with Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. After a very good set of GCSE results in 2007 (2 A stars, 5 A's and 3 B's) he embarked on his sixth from studies. He is a self-disciplined and confident individual who is always willing to express his views and opinions. He has been a representative on the School Council for four years and he has also helped to organise various charity events particularly centred around music. He has a passion for Music and is often seen scribbling down lyrics or ideas for a new song. He is an accomplished guitarist and has performed on many occasions at local gigs. He is also a keen practitioner of Parkour. He has a regular part time job at Oundle News and is a valued member of the team.. Spending five years living in belgium from aged five he has a keen awareness and appreciation of other cultures.
