Oundle Gears Up for 2012 Carnival
Oundle will be alive with noise and
colour on Sunday 24th June as the town
holds its
annual Carnival celebrations.
This year the event is to consist of a
bigger and better Carnival Parade
followed by
a busy afternoon jamboree
of mixed events, displays, stalls and
entertainments at Oundle
Rugby Club.
Oundle Town councillor and co-
the organising committee Neil Fraser
commented
“Oundle’s Carnival day gets
bigger and better every year.
The turnout last summer was
excellent and we anticipate more of the same this time around as we have been very
busy lining up an amazing day of entertainment.”
PARADE
The parade which starts at 11am on the Sunday is set to reach new heights and will incorporate an Olympics theme. With a growing reputation, Oundle Carnival has confirmed many new and interesting parade entries including: A large motor yacht from Fairline Boats, a truck pulled by local gym members, various vintage vehicles, many local schools, majorettes, dancers, stilt walkers, three marching brass bands, a troupe of Chinese drummers and also a samba band.
When asked what to expect, Parade Organiser Trevor Noddles was quoted as saying “The streets of Oundle will be packed to the gunnels with ambience, noise colour, and a record number of entrants. Local residents are in for a massive treat this year.”
AFTERNOON OF FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT
Directly following the parade, a full afternoon of family entertainment is planned
to take place on the fields at Oundle Rugby Club. This will include a funfair, stalls,
live music, a pet show, beer festival, and various displays in the main arena. The
exciting feature event of the day will come from a Mountain Biking Display Team who
are set to thrill the crowds with some extreme pro-
